Liverpool Architecture Foundation CIC “LAF” respects your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about what we do with it.

This privacy policy sets out how the LAF uses and protects any information that you provide, for example when you use our website, register for our events, sign-up for our newsletter or conduct business with us. What information we collect

We may collect and process the following information:

  • Names and job title

  • Contact information, including email address and telephone number

  • Demographic information, such as Postcodes

  • Payment details (including card or bank information for transfers and direct debits)

  • Health information (including dietary requirements, allergies and health conditions)

  • Racial or ethnic origin

  • Sexual orientation information

  • Other information relevant to customer surveys

How we use the information we collect, and why

The information collected helps us to understand your needs, and to provide you with a better service.
Personal information may be processed for certain business and public benefit purposes, which may include:

  • To provide services to you, including administrating and running events, and managing competitions and surveys

  • For service updates or marketing purposes, including newsletter emails about events, exhibitions and other information which you have opted in for or there is a legitimate interest in doing so, using the email address you have provided. Occasionally, we may include information from partner organisations or organisations who support us in these communications.

  • For Research or archiving purpose, including diversity and equal opportunity monitoring

  • To correspond with you and handle your queries or complaints

  • To Comply with legal requirements

  • For Recruitment and Volunteering purposes

  • Internal record keeping, including identify visitors to our Site, improve our Site and services and customise our Site for you

  • We may use the information to improve our programme and services.

  • When we are obliged by our funders to share demographic and statistical data with them.

Where we get personal information from

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you through one of the following processes:

  • You have completed a contact form or joined our mailing list, or booked onto one of our events

  • You have supplied in seeking to engage our services. We use the information that you have given us in order to fulfil actual or potential contracts for services.

  • We also receive personal information indirectly when you visit our website. Our website is hosted via Square Space.

  • When you give permission to other parties to share it with us - Your information may be shared with us by independent event organisers, for example Dot Art and the Open Eye Gallery

  • When your information is available publicly or from other external sources.

How long we keep information

LAF retains personal data only for as long as required to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected or for as long as otherwise required or permitted by applicable laws.

If we are keeping your information to keep you informed, we will monitor your activity and delete your information if you are not engaging with us and we will remove your information if you request us to.

Who we share information with

With your consent, we may from time to time share or disclose your personal information as follows:

  • We may from time to time share or disclose your personal information to our partners and our service providers who assist us in providing the services we offer; processing transactions; fulfilling requests; running competitions, events and exhibitions; receiving and sending communications and newsletters; and providing supporting services.

  • We may pass your personal information to third parties who may be carrying out the filming, photography or recordings on the LAF’s behalf.

When we collect your personal information we use procedures and security features to prevent unauthorised access. However, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. As a result, while we try to protect your personal information, LAF cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk.

Who we share information with

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.

LAF use external providers to deliver our services and for marketing purposes, some of which act as ‘Data processors’. These organisations include, but are not limited to:

  • Mailchimp - This data processor organisation collects and stores data of people who have signed-up for our newsletters. This organisation is used for distributing newsletters.

  • Eventbrite - This data processor organisation collects and stores data of people who have signed-up for events. This organisation is used to send out information via email relating to the events.

  • Square space - This data processor organisation collects and stores data of people visiting www.laf-uk.com. This organisation is used to host the LAF website.

How do we use cookies?

LAF uses cookies to provide web users a more personal experience. Please refer to our Cookies Policy.

The LAF website also includes specific services which link to a partner website, such as booking events through Eventbrite, these websites may use cookies.

You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

Links to other websites

The LAF website may include links to other sites, not owned or managed by us. Once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore we cannot be held responsible for the privacy of information collected by websites not managed by us. Please refer to the privacy policies of the websites in question.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal data you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

  • Your right to object to processing - You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

  • Your right to withdraw consent – When we use consent as our lawful basis you have the right to withdraw your consent.
